Vibe-coding is a pain in the ass!
Especially for people like me, who have 0 ball-knowledge or experience in coding. So I was recently redesigning my WordPress website and decided to make it more of a portfolio than a company page. It all started with a rough sketch which I drew on my notepad, a mockup animation which I made on after-effects and a whole lot of mind-boggling methods to make the dream come true. In that process, I found myself wondering “what if I vibe code the landing page with AI since most people are making so many cool stuff with these tools. But who knew (except for the people who actually know how to code) that I run would into so many problems, multiple syntax errors with HTML and CSS, and navigating all those lines of code just to find that one problem which was breaking the page on a smartphone browser would turn out to be a nightmare. Since I didn’t know how to navigate any coding language I found myself in a tough spot.
Incidentally I started to watch multiple videos on coding and vibe coding on multiple YouTube tabs on the same browser (and sometimes on different browsers as well) and in the middle of all that, I realized that a problem created by AI might as well get solved by it. So I started going deeper, ditching the generic prompts and giving much deeper and detailed analysis of the problems, screenshots and some solutions which I thought would work, surprisingly, most of them did. I stopped treating AI like an unpaid-overworked-intern and started working with it like a team. The problems got their solutions and I got my portfolio/website, up and running.
It’s still a work-in-progress and for the most part I think it will always be. I’ll be writing my blogs periodically and forgetting to post them regularly, I’ll be editing and (hopefully) making content but would of course, forget to update it on time.
